Chamundeshwari Temple, Chamundi Hills, Mysore

I had been to Mysore just after the Dasara season and went around to a few places including the Chamundeshwari Temple. I reached the place in the evening just when the temple was about to close. It reopens later in the night. And till that time, I was just walking around the temple courtyard, absorbing the life and scenery around me.

Sunset as viewed from atop Chamundi Hills, Mysore.

It was just dusk when I reached and soon the night enveloped the place in its all pervading darkness. Dasara season brings out the best decorations in Mysore and probably, the decorations at the temple had not been taken off. And a little while before the temple reopened, they switched on the lights. The lit-up spectacle that presented itself before me was just too beautiful. And obviously, I had to capture it to posterity. What was clicked at that moment is what you see below.

Truly breathtaking, isn't it?

doggy, yes i agree. no tripod, cold breeze, didnt heed to advice to take a jacket... a lot of contributing factors. nevertheless, if u see the orig. pic, i think its got fabulous detail despite all the factors against me. actually, there are a few blurs at the bottom of the pic, those are of the people walking around. tried cropping it off, but the perspective of the pic becomes less glorious.

anon - thanks. its a very engaging hobby as of now. who knows what happens in future. i will keep your suggestion in mind ;-)

The Gopuram photo is very good. You went during any festival time? Or the gopuram is always lighted at night times?

I have to check that with a Mysorean. Maybe it is always lit up in the evenings because it is a major tourist attraction in Mysore. Also, like I mentioned earlier, it was just after Dasara.
